Lacuna Juice & Yoga

THE ASSIGNMENT

Identity Design for a Yoga Studio & Cold Press Juicery that acts as a refreshing oasis in the heart of the city.

A modern, refreshing studio that creates constructive & transformative change—inside and out. A playful and approachable studio that doesnt’ take itself too seriously.

MUSE

“Lacuna” means a space, opening or gap. To embody a sense of openess and invitation, the design system needed to feel open, airy and inviting.

Inspired by islands within letterforms (counters) and the nature of simple, transformative ingredients, the design language speaks to the openness of mind and body that comes from healthy, consistent patterns.

THE LOGO

The modular logo system represents a Vinyasa flow: dynamic and ever-changing. The system’s icons were inspired by the geometry of individual yoga poses, and the symmetry of fruit cross sections.

* RACHEL RIPPY MADE THE FIRST PASS ON THE ‘POSE’ icons AND I HAD THE JOY OF REFINING THEM AND DEVELOPING THE FINAL LOGO SYSTEM FOR THE BRAND.

The Brand System - TYPE & COLOR

The brand system makes heavy use of the icon set, keeping layouts from feeling expected. The color palette was built to emulate the contrast of the physical space: expressive plants set against modern minimalism.

The brand messaging pokes fun of the ‘necessity’ of a yoga studio / juicery with the “Finally!” language to reinforce an unpretentious experience.

Bottle design

With bright and representational juice colors, bottle design was actually more about taking up as little attention as possible.

Juice varieties are marked on a cap sticker to keep the bottles variety-agnostic, allowing visitors to take advantage of an enviromentally responsible bottle recycling program.
